Overview

A Little Background Information

Honeycomb Houses, a premium brand launched by Brakspear Breweries, aimed to give their 16 managed pubs, restaurants, and hotels a cohesive identity. Having led the brand development, I was also responsible for launching new websites for each establishment, focusing on boosting direct hotel and restaurant bookings to reduce third-party commission fees and increase revenue.

Objectives for the Project

Build user-friendly, on-brand websites for Honeycomb Houses to increase restaurant reservations and hotel bookings.

Key Results

Online restaurant bookings surged from 3% to 15%, while direct hotel bookings rose by 15%, significantly reducing third-party commission fees.

How did we do this?

01 Justifying New Websites

After implementing a new brand for Brakspear’s managed houses, it was evident that the establishments needed websites with a unified look. Additionally, a web overhaul was crucial to drive more direct bookings, reducing reliance on third-party agents and delivering a strong ROI, which was a key selling point for stakeholders.

03 Launching Websites

The launch plan included migrating and uploading new content, training staff on back-end content management systems, and officially launching the new sites.

05 Analytics and Reporting

 We utilised Google Analytics for data collection but recognized not all teams were familiar with the platform. By integrating Databox, we translated GA data into easy-to-understand charts accessible to staff across the business, facilitating informed decision-making.

02 Designing and Building the Websites 

Upon stakeholder approval, we analysed user interactions with existing websites using Hotjar and Google Analytics. This data helped us create common user journeys and informed our wireframes, guided by the new brand guidelines. Our designs went through multiple feedback rounds from business stakeholders, ensuring their involvement and buy-in.

04 Optimising for better user experience

Many companies neglect their websites post-launch. To maximise longevity and ROI, it’s crucial to analyse visitor behaviour and use this data to inform a development roadmap, continually optimising the site for a better user experience.
